Fruit Soup: Apple Edition

Another fruit soup to stay warm and gently soothe digestion this winter. This recipe is an Ayurveda staple that I use regularly because I learned last year in Autumn that I cannot digest raw apples well, especially in the cold dry weather. Instant headache. Therefore, cooked apples are the solution for me. This recipe serves one.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. ghee
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cardamom pod, crushed
  • 2 cloves
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice blend
  • 1 pinch salt (to taste)
  • 1-1½ apples, chopped

Method

  1. In a small pot, combine all ingredients with a bit of water (about ½ cup) and bring to a boil
  2. After about a minute (or until apples are soft), turn heat off and let mixture sit for 3-5 minutes
  3. Serve and enjoy
