As I have explored more in the knowledge of Ayurveda, I have enjoyed beginning my day with a common recipe to gently begin the daily digestion process: stewed fruit, which I affectionately call fruit soup. I thought of this recipe when I was away from home spending time with family for the holidays, and I bought a bag of oranges that I did not know what to do with. The combination with ginger and cinnamon, topped with pomegranate seeds is bursting with freshness and pungent flavors that will warm you from the inside out this winter. This recipe serves one.

Ingredients
- 1 tsp. ghee
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½ thumb ginger, minced
- ¼ tsp. cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. turmeric powder (optional)
- 1 pinch salt (to taste)
- 1 pinch pepper (optional)
- 1 orange, peeled and chopped
- ¼ cup pomegranate seeds
Method
- In a small pot on the stove, combine ginger, cinnamon, and salt with a bit of water (about ½ cup) and bring to a boil
- After boiling the ginger for about a minute (until you can smell its aroma), add the oranges and ghee
- After another minute, turn heat off and let mixture sit for 3-5 minutes
- Serve with pomegranate seeds on top
- Enjoy
